After taking off their body armor and laying down their Middle Ages-style weapons, members of the Society for Creative Anachronism traveled to the Seabrook Tavern to dine on giant Speck Burgers and liquid refreshments. About 50 members of the group from five states converged on the Seabrook to celebrate their sport. Members of the society re-create medieval battles and tournaments. All the armor is hand-made and the fighting is real.

The group that visited the Seabrook were from the Kingdom of Calontir, which is made up of members from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and northwest Arkansas. They will travel to Phoenix in February to battle other Kingdoms made up from members from other states. They have about 100,000 members nationwide.

We enjoyed the group at the Seabrook, wish them well in their future competition and certainly hope they stop in again when in town. To learn more about them, visit their website at www.calontir.org/~cm
